The Wayne County Health Department is among groups sponsoring two dinner meetings on lead abatement for residents and landlords in Highland Park and Hamtramck.
The two cities were selected for the informational meetings because they have some of the highest percentages of homes built before 1950 in the state. Older houses put residents at higher risk of exposure to lead.
The meetings, at which pizza and pop will be served, are to run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Hamtramck meeting is to be April 30 at Peoples Community Center, 8625 Jos. Campau Ave. The Highland Park meeting is to be May 7 at Ernest T. Ford Recreation Center, 10 Pitkin.
